Happy New Year! Last year, I threw a simple black and gold New Year’s Eve party for my daughters and 3 of their friends. It was very sweet; three sisters hosting three sisters of similar ages. I didn’t have to worry about creating games (I suppose I could have) but I didn’t. They were so excited for a special New Year’s Eve play date, the girls happily played together until 10pm (when we celebrated Happy New Year for them) making up their own games and enjoying each other’s company. What I did do though was create an easy but dramatic black and gold table scape. The looks on my girls’ faces and those of their guests made it all worth it. My girls’ shared with me later, the effort I had put into their little party made them feel extra special.
This year, we chose to just stay home as a family. Our typically temperate Southwest winter was hitting the high 20s and it was nice to just stay home, with most of our friends feeling the same way. It was blissful. So however you celebrated the ushering in of 2015, I hope you were able to make some wonderful memories with your family.
