I love doing paper crafts. I started making paper bag albums (that’s right, made out of lunch sacks!)about 10 years ago.
They are super fun, can usually be completed in a day or a weekend, and are a great way to use up odds and ends papers/stickers etc, making them a wonderful re-purpose craft!
You can decorate them to include your own photographs, or just make theme ones, like this Halloween one. Ribbons are great to tie in the holes and make the color scheme really pop when they are displayed on a stand.
I used to buy my own paper bags, punch the holes, sew the sides and construct my own. Now I just buy the actual “ready to go” paper bag albums on ebay. They usually come in a set of 8 or 10, and arrive ready for you to decorate. I always give my daughters their own to craft along with me, which they love…
When buying them on ebay, look for ones that have the seam SEWN. This will help them last for a long time. They may or may not come with rings. It is okay either way. I like adding rings to mine for durability and they make it easier to turn the pages later.
TIP: I always spray mine with a AF/LF acid free/lignen free spraybefore decorating.
These make great gifts; just make sure the gift recipient understands these are fragile and not for little hands.
That is not too say they don’t hold up well with good care…This particular one I have been displaying for four years. Every year, at Halloween time I unpack it and put it out with my other decorations…
