I am a total in-full type A personality. I accept this about myself. While I’m rather easy going in my day to day life with my kids and my homeschool; when it comes to myself, I am Mrs. Goal-Driven. I have a tendency to try and do too much, start too many projects, and learn too many new things (usually all at one time). That’s not all bad. That is how I came to be a Speech Language Pathologist, a certified yoga teacher, an advanced scuba diver, and a Reiki practitioner…by working towards attainable goals I’ve set for myself. I even started graduate school over in 2011; plodding away towards another Master’s in History…for fun. Yes, stamp my Type A card right now.
But lately, I’ve been thinking about that. About maybe doing less but doing it better. About maybe picking something to do for leisure, just for enjoyment’s sake, without hooking the end result to a degree or certification. Perhaps, there can be something different to strive for in 2015. Perhaps I can make 2015 the year where quality reigns…in my home, homeschool, and individual pursuits, by doing less better.
In 2015, I want to be blessed and not busy so that when I am at home, I can have more time to do those things which make me truly happy (reading, knitting) and have more time to share experiences and make memories with my kids. How many times this past year did my girls ask if we could sew or bake and how many days did I reply “not today”? (because we were too busy doing something being deemed more important in that moment)– more than I want them to remember. Obviously, we can’t craft, bake, and sew every single day. There are lessons to be taught, assignments to be completed, chores to be done, life lessons to be learned, but maybe I can work on saying yes more than I’ve been saying no.
Today is the day. This new year is the year.
2015 is the year I make time for more real projects; not just pinning.
2015 is the year I learn new crafts and techniques, mainly make real progress on my knitting journey and make it through a real reading wish list.
2015 is the year I tell my girls, “Yes, we are sewing/baking/sharing (making real lifelong memories) today”.
I’m going to be adding some less is better strategy to the blog as well. In the new year you can expect posts to revolve upon my expertise as a pediatric speech/language pathologist, homeschool tips, crafts, and simple, natural living. There may not be some set 3 posts a week blog schedule, but I promise high quality, helpful posts (is there any other kind a busy homeschool parent needs?)
My goal is to post here at least once a week, but you can always join the conversation and crafts on our facebook page each day.

Happy New Year,
